ABOUT US

MASOMO GROUP EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

MG is based in Atlanta, GA.  We provide advocacy and technical services to educational systems in public, private and government organizations in the area of mental health support.  MG consists of a diverse group with experience in education, law enforcement, mental health, business and mentoring.  We have a collective desire to address the growing mental health crisis plaguing our children, educators, schools, communities and ultimately our future. As a result we intend to improve the quality of life for our children that will ultimately become a confident, stable, and committed workforce.

Dr. Violet T. Adams CEO/Founder

The visionary and leader of Masomo Group Consulting is Dr. Violet T. Adams.

She is a native of Columbia, South Carolina where she had a vision early in life to leave a legacy behind.  She has conducted research in instructional practices, student mental health, student efficacy, at-risk students, alternative schools, integrated arts, and creativity. Specifically, she authored and published several articles on these topics including the instructional theory, "Creative Learning Theory."

With 28 years as an educator, Dr. Adams  faithfully served both at-risk and gifted children and realized that both groups required specified attention. She spent much of her career in Title I and alternative schools.  Additionally, Dr. Adams has several family members affected by mental health challenges; most of whom did not graduate from high school.  These experiences spawned her concern about the effects of mental health on the ultimate success of students. Her goal is to provide the necessary resources to schools, families and the community needed to support students with mental health concerns and ultimately prepare them to be mentally healthy and productive citizens.

Dr. Adams is certified in Mental Health First Aid, Epilepsy, Teacher Support, and K-12 Education.  This undergirds her philosophy of "Education is the Great Equalizer."  resulting in her drive to rid all educational organizations of systemic inequities.

THE PROBLEM

  • National Association of School Psychologists state that 1 in every 5 children experience a mental health crisis daily.
  •  NASP recommends 1 mental health specialist for every 500 students,  The reality is that there are only 2 for every 5000 students.
  • Most schools do not have a mental health specialist.   This problem is due to the lack of availability of education therapists graduating from college.
  • There are a few mental health first aid programs available to teach educators how to correctly identify mental health crises in children, but most educators are not trained.  As a result, when a child is in crises the solution is to suspend resulting in punishing, not helping these children
  • Many children experience PTSD from challenging living environments, domestic violence, rape, economic depravity, and violence.
  • We are certified by the National Council Mental Wellbeing to provide mental health support training and mental heath first-aid training.

MENTAL HEALTH SUOPORT ADVOCACY

Dr. Violet T Adams, Educator, Researcher, Speaker and Mental Health Support Advocate

Children with unaddressed mental health concerns grow up to be adults with exacerbated issues that impact their ability to:

  • maintain a career or work
  • to engage in healthy relationships
  • to make responsible decisions

Unfortunately, a few damaged souls act out in violence which may result in the death of others or suicide.

As a veteran educator and researcher, Dr. Adams focuses on the effect of mental health concerns of  student and educators.

As a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor, her hands-on workshops and talks provide resources and strategies to address mental health concerns in education. She instructs participants in how to identify the symptoms and causes of a mental health crises. And provides practical resources to aid students and educators in crises. MhFA provides mental heath first-aid training.
